THE FEATHERS HOTEL – A BLEND OF HISTORY AND MODERN DESIGN

DISCOVER OUR LATEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL DESIGNS WITH EDE HOMES IN COTSWOLDS

We’re thrilled to unveil the latest collaboration between AGC BTR and Ede Homes: the newly redesigned Feathers Hotel in Woodstock, Cotswolds. This unique hospitality project beautifully blends the hotel’s rich historical charm with modern, innovative interior design, redefining the boutique hotel experience for both locals and visitors alike.

A Boutique Hotel Experience Redefined

Just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Blenheim Palace, the Feathers Hotel now offers a refreshed, welcoming environment across 23 hotel rooms and suites, as well as an elegantly designed restaurant, bar, and lobby. Our goal for this project was simple: to craft a space that feels both luxurious and comfortable, ensuring a memorable stay for each guest.

Honouring the Past with Contemporary Comfort

Originally built in the 1960s, the Feathers Hotel holds a special place in Cotswolds history. The property itself has a rich and varied past, with parts of the building once serving as an 18th-century sanatorium, a butcher’s, and a draper’s shop. These historic buildings were merged in the 1960s and converted into a hotel originally called The Dorchester. Later, hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray purchased the property in the 1980s, renaming it The Feathers in honour of his collection of taxidermy birds. During our recent redesign, we made sure to preserve many of the building’s unique architectural features. Original beams and fireplaces can still be found in several spaces, adding character and warmth to the overall experience.

We wanted to stay true to the hotel’s roots, while simultaneously modernising the space to suit today’s discerning traveller.

By incorporating elements inspired by luxury members’ clubs and high-end hotels from across the world, we aimed to create an environment where guests feel pampered and relaxed.

Bringing the Cotswolds Indoors

At AGC BTR, our interior design philosophy extends beyond mere aesthetics. We aim to create spaces that tell a story and leave a lasting impression. At the Feathers Hotel, every design element is curated to reflect the natural beauty of the Cotswolds. The colour palette showcases the region's landscape with stone and greenery tones throughout the hotel, enhancing the connection to nature. Art is a focal point, featuring local artists who display their work in various areas. Striking key pieces by artists Morgan Jackson and Katie-Lark Ratcliffe grace the restaurant and bar, complemented by another piece from Gleide Reid. These innovative touches transform spaces into unforgettable experiences.

Sustainable by design

AGC BTR is part of the first B Corp certified interior design collective, and sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and the Feathers Hotel is no exception. We carefully sourced furniture and upholstery from local suppliers, including B Corp certified businesses, to reduce the project’s environmental footprint while supporting the local economy. The end-of-bed benches in suites 2 and 3 were crafted by a fellow B Corp, ensuring that every detail aligns with our sustainable design ethos. By collaborating with local artisans, we’ve added both authenticity and eco-consciousness to the hotel’s design narrative.

A Destination in Its Own RighT

With its combination of historical significance, modern design, and sustainable principles, the Feathers Hotel is set to become a destination in its own right. Whether you're a local seeking a weekend retreat or a visitor excited to explore the Cotswolds, we've created a welcoming space that invites you to return time and again. The Feathers Hotel embodies our dedication to redefining hospitality design and enhancing the guest experience. We look forward to welcoming you to the Feathers Hotel!
