Our Design Recipe: Spicing Up Our Spaces with Local Ingredients

OUR LOVE LETTER TO UK MAKERS

At AGC BTR, we believe that the secret to creating exceptional spaces is like crafting the perfect recipe – you need the right ingredients.

For us, the essential ingredient is local. Our commitment to supporting local artists and suppliers adds a distinctive flavour to our projects, making each one unique while also supporting our sustainability goals. Here's an overview of how we design our projects by incorporating local elements while upholding our commitment towards sustainability.

WHY LOCAL INGREDIENTS MATTER IN OUR DESIGN RECIPE

Our dedication to using local artists and suppliers is not just a stylistic choice; it’s part of a broader vision. Supporting local talent allows us to create designs that reflect the character and story of each location, making our projects truly one-of-a-kind. These collaborations bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that shape the personality of our spaces.

The Feathers Hotel:
Art That Transforms and Comfort That Delights

Our recent work at The Feathers Hotel perfectly embodies our approach to design, blending local craftsmanship and artistry to create spaces that leave a lasting impression. The hotel’s restaurant and bar feature striking pieces by talented artists Morgan Jackson, Katie-Lark Ratcliffe, Gleide Reid, and Kit Lintin. These artworks do more than adorn the walls; they transform the ambiance, infusing each space with character and a hint of local culture, making them truly stand out.

But it’s not just about the aesthetics. We’ve also partnered with a local supplier to source all the beds for the rooms and suites. By choosing locally crafted pieces, we enhance the guest experience with high-quality, comfortable beds while supporting the local economy. It’s a perfect example of how our commitment to local ingredients goes beyond design – it’s about creating unforgettable experiences.

Old Abbey House Hotel: Comfort with a Conscience

We’ve brought a local touch to the Old Abbey House Hotel by collaborating with local suppliers to create bespoke furniture, from beds and armchairs to benches. Each piece is thoughtfully selected for its quality and eco-credentials, allowing guests to relax in style while supporting the community. By partnering with local suppliers, we not only celebrate the community but also reduce our carbon footprint by keeping sourcing close to home.

Love what you see? You can bring these beautifully crafted pieces home through our sister brand, Bazaar.

Our Sustainability Ambition: Building a Responsible Community

As part of AGC’s commitment to ethical and sustainable practices, we are actively working towards an ambitious goal: guiding our suppliers towards eco-friendly practices and ensuring traceability across our supply chain. Every project is an opportunity to work towards our sustainability ambitions, designing in a way that benefits both the community and the planet. By focusing on local partnerships, we’re taking steps in the right direction—reducing transport-related emissions, and increasingly offering products that meet responsible sourcing standards.

At AGC BTR, our design recipe is simple: start with local ingredients to create something extraordinary. Our dedication to local partnerships not only enhances our projects but also contributes to a more sustainable future, one step at a time.
