IN CONVERSATION
WITH SHANE
Shane, You’ve Been with AGC Since 2019. What Drew you to AGC BTR, leading workspaces design?
“When I joined in 2019, the team's passion for creating high-quality spaces was clear. I was excited to work on diverse projects and push the boundaries of BTR developments.
Our new venture into workspace design emerged from our work with AGC BTR clients on projects like the award-winning Author King’s Cross, where we designed co-working and amenity spaces. We’ve noticed a significant shift in demand—from large, open-plan offices to smaller, boutique spaces around London. By leveraging our expertise in the residential sector, we’re excited to grow our footprint in commercial workspace design, bringing the same level of quality and innovation to this market.”
Our services include in-house window treatments, how did this offering come about?
“At AGC we specialised in providing FF&E to cater all levels of residential properties but we did not have an in house window treatment offering. That changed during the Covid pandemic when we had a moment to pause and reset. We explored different ways to enhance our services, and introducing bespoke, in-house window treatments seemed like a natural fit. Fast forward to today, and we’re proud to say we’ve completed over 700 installations. It’s been a fantastic journey, and seeing the impact this service has had on our projects has been incredibly rewarding.”
Window treatments often go unnoticed, what excites you about innovating in this area?
“People don’t always realise how transformative and important window treatments can be. They’re not just about aesthetics—they control light, privacy, and even energy efficiency. I love merging beauty with practicality, using smart technologies and innovative materials to create functional and elevated designs that enhanced the overall ambiance of any space.
Tell us about an AGC BTR project that holds a special place in your heart!
“The Feathers Hotel in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, stands out for me. Partnering with Ede Homes, we transformed this historic property into a boutique destination that balances charm, elegance, and comfort. It wasn’t just about the aesthetics—it was about crafting a welcoming space that locals and visitors alike could love and return to. Drawing from the local community and surrounding area, we infused a refined yet homely vibe that I think resonates deeply.”
What Can We Expect from AGC BTR in 2025?
“2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for the BTR team. As part of AGC, a B Corp-certified company, we’re deeply committed to sustainability and using our projects to make a positive impact. This year, we’re exploring new ways to incorporate eco-conscious design and advanced technologies into our projects.
Also we’ve got some fantastic projects in the pipeline, and we can’t wait to reveal more soon. Stay tuned—you won’t want to miss what’s coming next!”
Last question, a personal highlight from 2024?
“I went skiing in Alaska. It was a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and honestly, I loved every second of it. Nothing quite like fresh powder and breathtaking landscapes to reset and recharge.”
Whether it’s revolutionising window treatments or rethinking workspaces, Shane and the team are poised to make 2025 a year of milestones. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news and exclusive insights.
